Obituary for Efrain E. Olivo

EFRAIN ENRIQUE OLIVO
2/18/1943 - 7/26/2020
Efrain E. Olivo was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on February 18, 1943. He was educated at
Libertador Bolivar High School and attended The University of Guayaquil, Ecuador. He served
in the Ecuadorian Army. In 1970, Efrain married his beloved Maria Estela Maldonado shortly
thereafter emigrating to the United States in search of the American Dream. He became a
United States citizen in 1975. Father of Priscilla Joanne Dujardin and Shirley Eleana Olivo
(Hernandez). Loving grandfather of Christian Hernandez, Benjamin Hernandez, Matthew
Hernandez and Peter Hernandez. Brother to surviving siblings Hugo Haucon, Estela Mora
Olivo, Virginia Mora Olivo and Adolfo Mora Olivo.
Efrain was in life a hard worker and wonderful provider for his family. His family and friends will
remember him as a straight forward, honest man with a good sense of humor and love of life.
He loved to travel and made friends around the world. He worked for Buitoni, Pfizer, and
American Airlines as well as being an independent New York City Taxi Driver. When he retired
he was a landlord.
He lived in the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and spent his retirement years in Merrick, Long
Island. He loved NYC and knew the roadways like the back of his hand, often giving out-oftown
friends and family tours of Manhattan. He loved history, world politics and he was an
avid reader. He would never fail to get his Daily News on his grocery shopping runs. At his
leisure, he would be found watching and commenting on the news events of the day and he
loved classical music. He will be remembered always for his legacy of kindness.

amabilidad.
