It is often said that laughter opens windows into the soul. For the amount of time that I had known Jose at the USPS JFK plant he never shied away from opportunities to laugh, opportunities for others to make him laugh, for him to make others laugh, to laugh at himself or even to cause others to laugh at themselves.

Jose was intellectually curious. He read avidly during his breaks at work. He was a man that was in search of more knowledge. He was comfortable in his own skin. He made others feel comfortable. I always felt comfortable being in his presence.

I already miss his infectious laughs and pleasant attitude. May he rest in eternal peace and may his family find much needed strength in these moments of grief and sorrow!
