Obituary for Juan A. Whatts

Juan Agustin Whatts, age 90, died on Thursday, December 26, 2019, in Providence, Rhode Island, surrounded by his family.

“Juancito”, as he was affectionately known was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was born on Wednesday, February 27, 1929 to Juan De La Cruz Whatts and Ana Josefa Guerrero in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

He received his accounting degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo.

He retired after 30+ years of service as a Customs Supervisor for Santo Domingo Airport.

In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and socializing.

In his older years he was admired for his sense of responsibility, loyalty, and respect. Nonetheless, he was characterized for his great sense of humor which he passed on to his children. He was an affectionate man, who showed it in many ways. He was known to be an excellent brother and friend amongst other things. He had a great passion for cooking.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bienvenido Rafael, sister Mercedes Maria, and adoring children, Rosa Elizabeth “Lizzy” and Juan Wilfrido “Will”.

He is survived by his children, Milagros Altagracia, Carmen Elena, Dilcia Argentina, Yessenia Del Carmen, and Yonaiby. As well as his 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.
